Speaking of Treeplanting – that subculture that has had so much to do with the person that I am – there haven’t been many books (never mind films) put together on the work but the book that deals with the intensity, social openness and back breaking labour of the job the very best is Charlotte Gill’s Eating Dirt. It came out in 2011 in Canada and as soon as I read it I wished that I could have written something so grand and poetic about an activity that has had a profound influence on a generation of Canadians.

Thanks Charlotte for busting through, screefing duff, taking on the rock shots, working the cream, taking the slash in the your stride and giving us Eating Dirt.
