One of my favourite lines from my book Into the Heart of the Himalayas. The paragraph reads:
…the Himalayas developed as my sanctuary and in a quiet way walking became the means through which I could fathom my loss. Walking induces clarity, its pace and simplicity engenders contemplation. In the conscious motion of my footsteps was heightened awareness. Walking became my filter – the goodness I experienced in the Himalayas came to me from the ground up.
I’m excited to have a piece coming out in the next issue of the New South Wales Writers Centre magazine, Newswrite on the synchronicity between walking and writing – a pleasure to be able to combine and talk about two of the loves of my life.
