After a year of research, writing, editing and publishing. We’re finally onto the homestretch with the new Torres Strait Island gallery at the National Museum. The deinstallation of the gallery started 5 weeks ago and then there was the rebuild which included new objects cases, paint, lighting and background treatments. Then two weeks ago the install started with the mount fabrication team from POD starting into their work and finally last week we were able to start installing the objects. And today we finished – just a few touches to go, lighting finalization, humidity checks, last of the graphics and AV and we’re set. Can’t wait for the big opening on Thursday.
