Last night was the opening of Helen Teirnan’s new show, Farming without Fences at the Belconnen Arts Centre. It is a brilliant show, 26 pieces of exquisite art each of them a comment on land management in Australia. I should ‘fess up to my involvement – I wrote all the text for her labels and catalogue and I think over the next few weeks I’ll highlight some of the art with the accompanying words. Maybe the historian Professor Bill Gammage who opened the show put it best when he said that this show was “immensely important.” I’ll second him on that one.
