Another friend from the North has sent me a picture of an installation that Doug Coupland did for his Canada House project back in 2009. More fishing floats (!) – universal forms or a symbol of the proverbial life preserver in the stormy ocean of modern life? I’ve always been attracted to Coupland’s aesthetic, like his storytelling an internationalist approach incorporating pieces of debris from a west coast life well lived.
